Lisa is a compassionate speech-language pathologist from Chicago, Illinois. Her academic journey includes a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing science with a minor in Spanish from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in speech-language pathology from Rockhurst University. She is currently a PhD student at Liberty University. After a decade of medical speech-language pathology, particularly in adult neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders, Lisa transitioned to academia. She serves as a professor in the graduate program and is the Director of Clinical Education for the undergraduate and graduate speech pathology program at Saint Xavier University.
Driven by the inequitable distribution of rehabilitation resources, Lisa found her calling in non-profit work at the collegiate level and NGOs. Lisa's commitment to service extends beyond TBB; she volunteers as a "compassionate companion" with the No One Dies Alone program, sitting vigil with actively dying hospice patients when no family or friends are available, and at a local Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) program to provide hospitality and shelter to those in need.
In her free time, Lisa finds joy in the company of her family and friends, who continually inspire her to serve others given their unwavering displays of love, compassion, and empathy.
