Ready To Play

WhaT is IT?

Our “Ready to Play” program is a comprehensive caregiver training program designed to enhance children’s functionality through simple and safe handling and positioning techniques. The program integrates physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy components in therapeutic activities. Our training emphasizes safety, efficiency, and active participation from both the child and caregiver.

Why Do We Do This?

Research shows that children with developmental disabilities are prone to health impairments that affect all domains of their development, including play and socialization. Our local Kenyan team members highlighted the need for this program, which originated in their community. After conducting a thorough strengths and needs assessment, we discovered a recurring issue: children with developmental disabilities and their caregivers were lacking education on multidisciplinary focused training to increase play and socialization.

How Do We Do This?

Participants get immediate experience training each other within this program, which enables them to train others in the future, in accordance with our mission of local sustainability. This program was built to be applicable to a wide range of children with disabilities from a wide range of cultures, to enable it for scale within other countries. It is then the responsibility of each local TBB trainer to adapt the program according to any specific needs, cultural practices, availability of toys, etc.
