Our “Mental Health & Wellness For Your Patient” program empowers clinicians to view their physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy patients from a holistic perspective and enables them to identify and address underlying mental health or wellness needs in order to ensure the best treatment possible. It focuses on the principles of grief, loss, and acceptance related to disability, and provides strategies for stress, coping, resilience, and wellness for both patients and the clinicians themselves. It provides further resources and referrals to appropriate professionals as needed, for needs that are beyond our scope of practice.
Every person deserves dignity no matter their ability or where they are located on the globe. Mental health is still considered a taboo subject in many areas of the world, despite the overwhelming need for support and resources globally, and is often overlooked in daily physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy sessions. This program aims to fill this gap by emphasizing the importance of identifying and addressing mental health needs in rehab patients in order to ensure the best outcomes possible.
Each month, TBB Certified Trainers identify a training group and organize a 2-3 hour training. The training combines lecture content with lively participant engagement, while destigmatizing disability and supporting clinicians to provide more holistic care for their patients. TBB Certified Trainers collect pre and post-test data and document presentations through pictures and/or videos. TBB Certified Trainers play a pivotal role in the expansion of our impact by training additional individuals, which continuously extends our program’s reach.
